GENERAL SANTOS CITY (September 22, 2014) – Ten students from Villamor College of Business and Arts in General Santos City are undergoing their on-the-job training at the office of the Information and Communications Technology (ICTD) under the City Mayor’s Office. The students are taking up a two-year ladderized Bachelor of Technical Teacher Education – a newly approved course by the Commission on Higher Education designed to generally bridge the K-12 program of the Department of Education.
Actual hands-on work experience starts on September 22, 2014 and ends on March 6, 2015 with learning outcome set by ICTD to include the following:
- How to effectively teach Basic Computer Operation to employees with zero knowledge
- How to test computer systems and detect program bugs
- How train system users in various computer application systems developed in-house by ICTD
- How to perform administrative tasks like documentation, liaising, filing etc.
- How to develop self-confidence when teaching
