LG-CRIS set for Launching and Formal Turn-over

GENERAL SANTOS CITY (October 1, 2014) – Civil Registry Information System (LG-CRIS) – an ICTD in-house developed computer system is set for a formal launching and an official turn-over to the Local Civil Registrar on October 2, 2014 at around 9:00 AM inside their lobby. LG-CRIS is a Windows-based system to automate the birth, death and marriage certificate generation of applicants.

What is unique about this system is the LCR actual need(s) are addressed like the basic information about barangay address is included in the encoding processes resulting to generation of reports per barangay which the previous LCR systems cannot provide. Reports can be generated and provided to other LGU offices including national agencies.

The system development includes Maria Corazon Soriano as the lead programmer with Roy Detoyato and Leonard Pe as systems analysts. Quality Assurance (QA) system testing is handled by Anna Lou Buyco and Irene Casipe. Hardware and Network support are provided by the helpdesk team supervised by Rolando Patac, Jr. and Roger Tura. Overall project is managed by Percival Pasuelo.

City Mayor Ronnel Rivera and Asst City Administrator Mr. Glen Gonzalez will be gracing the simple ceremony with Ms. Isabelita Tablizo, LCR Department Head with her division heads will be receiving the computer system provided by ICTD.

ICTD, Other CMO Divisions Ready for SPMS Simulation?

GENERAL SANTOS CITY (September 30, 2014) – It’s over. The long wait is now a reality. ICTD has been preparing for its targets since December 2013. IT and Support Services is a major final output assigned to ICTD in providing ICT solutions to all LGU offices of General Santos City. It has only three PPA’s namely: Computer Hardware and Software Servicing, Web Development and System Development with around eight success indicators.

On October 1, 2014 ICTD will be joining the rest of the City Mayors Office Divisions in rationalizing its accomplishments to the performance management team (PMT) of reviewers to simulate and establish what has been planned and targeted and how the SPMS goes through. Strategic Performance Management System is a brain-child of the Civil Service Commission as monitoring tool to gauge the performance of government employees based on the accomplishment or output and not on what are the plans or otherwise known as input.

At 8:00 AM inside the Tierra Montana Hotel along the National Highway, General Santos City all the fourteen MFOs of the City Mayors Office will be judged by the PMT. Percival Pasuelo, ICT Division Chief will be representing ICTD together with Irene Casipe and Rolando Patac, Jr.

TreeVolution: Greening MindaNOW all set. ICTD joins quest

GENERAL SANTOS CITY – ICTD regular and job order staff join the MinDA-sponsored TreeVolution as Mindanawons will try to break the Guinness world record for most trees planted simultaneously at multiple locations on September 26, 2014 – a world record-breaking attempt that will mobilize 185,440 people who will give a shot at planting 4,636,000 trees at various sites covering a total area of 9,200 hectares within the island-region.

o-organized by the Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), in partnership with the Department of Agriculture and the Department of Interior and Local Government,  the world record attempt is designed to entice massive participation by various stakeholders and sectors in efforts to hit the Mindanao target for the National Greening Program (NGP).

Island Wide ICT Forum set on September 30, 2014

GENERAL SANTOS CITY – Under the City Mayor’s Office, the ICT Division is invited to attend the conference entitled “Island Wide ICT Forum: Key to Accelerating Local Governments’ Competitiveness” on September 30, 2014, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Grand Menseng Hotel, Magallanes St., Davao City.

The Island Wide ICT Innovations Forum seeks to promote the use of information and communication technology (ICT) in delivering services at the local level and in making regulatory functions of local governments more efficient, effective, and transparent. The Forum will give local governments an opportunity to get updated on government programs to promote the use of ICT and the different applications that private companies have developed to help LGUs take advantage of ICT innovations.

ICTD Gensan to participate in e-Services Strat Planning

GENERAL SANTOS CITY (September 23, 2014) – Kent Niño Paler, Mark Junnies Narido and Roy Detoyato from ICT Division of the City Mayor’s Office to represent LGU General Santos in the coming “Enterprise Architecture and e-Services Strategic Planning” – a five-day workshop to be facilitated by the Department of Science and Technology through the Information and Communications Technology Office (ICTO-DOST) from September 29 to October 3, 2014. The workshop will be conducted at the ICTO Building at UP Campus in Diliman , Quezon City.

Currently the ICT Division of General Santos City is in its initial stages in providing ICT solutions to its stakeholders as the office was just created in 2012 through City Ordinance No.14 and fully operational only in May of 2013. The training will provide an avenue for the strategic roadmap in providing better services to its internal stakeholders.

Villamor Student-Trainees undergo IT hands-on experience

GENERAL SANTOS CITY (September 22, 2014) – Ten students from Villamor College of Business and Arts in General Santos City are undergoing their on-the-job training at the office of the Information and Communications Technology (ICTD) under the City Mayor’s Office. The students are taking up a two-year ladderized Bachelor of Technical Teacher Education – a newly approved course by the Commission on Higher Education designed to generally bridge the K-12 program of the Department of Education.

Actual hands-on work experience starts on September 22, 2014 and ends on March 6, 2015 with learning outcome set by ICTD to include the following:

  1. How to effectively teach Basic Computer Operation to employees with zero knowledge
  2. How to test computer systems and detect program bugs
  3. How train system users in various computer application systems developed in-house by ICTD
  4. How to perform administrative tasks like documentation, liaising, filing etc.
  5. How to develop self-confidence when teaching

Soriano, Tura attend I.T. Roundtable Discussion

GENERAL SANTOS CITY (September 11, 2014) – Maria Corazon Soriano, Data Controller II and Roger Tura, Data Controller I, both from the office of the Information and Communications Technology Division (ICTD) under the City Mayor’s Office participate in the IT Roundtable Consultation and Making IT Easy Event sponsored by Microgenesis Business Solution at the Keppel Tower Business Park in Cebu City on September 11, 2014. The event is in partnership with Microsoft Philippines.

ICTD representatives also visit its counterpart office in Cebu – the Management Information and Computer Services (MICS) located at the 5th Floor, City Hall Building, Cebu City in order to learn something that ICTD may adopt including Cebu’s approaches in developing in-house system which Cebu is known for.

Soriano and Tura hit two events in one travel, knowing the current trends in information technology through business solutions presented and learning the techniques of other LGUs in managing and operating an information office.

ICTD General Santos was only created through City Ordinance No. 14 Series of 2012 and fully operational only in May 2013.

ICTD 2014 Budget Approved

GENERAL SANTOS CITY – Mark Junnies Narido, Data Controller II and Percival Pasuelo, IT Officer II, defended their proposed budget to the committee members in the 2014 budget preparation. City Budget Officer John Philip Quimosing headed the committee with City Accountant Federico Cabanit, CPA and Joseph Nael Cruspero, City Planning and Development Coordinator, comprised the approving team.

ICTD Offers Queuing, Attendance Systems to BPLD

GENERAL SANTOS CITY – Last September 2014, ICT Division of the City Mayors Office presented the Queing and Attendance Monitoring Systems to the Business Permit and Licensing Division of the City Mayors Office.

Charles Henry Lumba presented the Attendance Monitoring System while Rolando Patac, Jr. presented both the Queuing and Archiving Systems to the staff of BPLD.
The CHSS or the Computer Hardware and Software Servicing Team under the ICTD set-up the hardware peripherals for the IT presentation inside the lobby of BPLD.

Three Systems Presented to CSWDO

GENERAL SANTOS CITY – Attendance Monitoring System(AttMon), Electronic Queuing System(EQS) and Electronic Archiving System(EArcS) are presented to CSWDO on

Roy Detoyato explained how the EArcS works requiring digitizing tools like scanners or cameras,  secured server to store the data and the peopleware requirement to operate the system. Steps include the collection of physical hardcopies to digitizing, encoding and verifying the digitized documents.

Charles Henry Lumba presented the Attendance Monitoring System to digitally record all participants in any form of event, program, meeting, launching, etc using digital signature pad and photo-capturing devices to identify warm bodies who attended. E

Roy Detoyato also demonstrated how queuing system can be used in any setting that requires lining-up or queuing of customers commonly seen in payment or inquiry centers.

The group of Rolando Patac, Jr. provided the technical setup of the event. Percival Pasuelo introduced the overall impact of the three systems to the staff of the City Social Welfare and Development Office spearheaded by Rebecca Magante, CGDH-II.
The three systems are in-house developed by ICTD or the Information and Communications Technology Division under the City Mayors Office which was officially created under City Ordina ance No. 14 Series of 2012 and formally opened only in May 2013.
