- FIBER-OPTIC NETWORK TECHNOLOGY
Sometime in the last quarter of 2013, a purchase request to acquire a high-speed fiber-optic line was materialized. The design was conceptualized by Leonard Pe – IT Officer 1 with the challenge to interconnect offices within the City Hall building and external offices located around one to three kilometers apart like the GSC Hospital and the City Health Office. The City Terminal, Public Market, CGSO/OBO and CEO are outside the City Hall Compound.
- In the first quarter of 2014, the request was awarded to a local network provider.
- Actual cabling, setup and installation were completed in the 2nd quarter of 2014 with the different offices interconnected as planned.
- Success Indicator (SI) is to target 100% or 5 offices interconnected to theFiber Optic Network Backbone Infrastructure not later than June 30, 2014 (CASSO-LCR-CPDO-CTO-Agri)
LOCAL AREA NETWORK
Simultaneously the LAN plan was completed. Offices with available funds started procuring their basic IT equipment for LAN installation like network switches, connectors, and UTP cable through the recommendation of ICTD staff. After assessment, hardware recommendation for PR or for budgeting purposes is prepared by ICTD staff and forwarded to the AO or department head. From January to June 2014, the following offices requested ICTD for their local network connectivity.
The Network Support of ICTD is continuously being implemented as approved under the Executive Legislative Agenda 2014-2016.
Various factors paving the way for the successful implementation includes the following resources:

2. Human Capital – as ICTD is an institutionalized office through City Ordinance 14 Series 2012
